Providence Row - Open Day & BBQ

29 June 2010

On Wednesday 30th June we opened our doors to the public and celebrated 150 years of helping homeless people. The open day offered supporters, members of the sector and the local community the chance to find out more about the work we do with homeless and vulnerably housed people in London. Tours of our Dellow Day Centre were provided along with a chance to meet the staff and partner organisations we work with.

Providence Row’s chairman Simon Bartley and longest serving volunteer Sr Winefride Biddle also unveiled a plaque which commemorates the 150th anniversary. Chief Executive, Jo Ansell said ‘Today was a wonderful opportunity to showcase our achievements and introduce new supporters to the services we offer. The social landscape has changed a huge amount in the last 150 years and we’re proud that we’ve been able to adapt and continue to help anyone that needs our services’.

On the 1st July we opened our doors again, this time to its homeless clients, offering a free barbeque and birthday cake to celebrate the milestone with those that benefit from our services.
