As I sit and contemplate the end of another year at Providence Row, I feel a range of emotions.

Above all, I am proud of our achievements. We developed a ground-breaking Outreach Psychotherapy programme, addressing the mental health needs of people rough sleeping in London.

In addition, our rooftop garden, a shining example of sustainability, won some outstanding industry awards. Our social enterprise Rise Bakery continues to gain momentum. Its award-winning brownies are now on sale across a number of central government departments. Finally, the Speaker of the London Borough of Tower Hamlets nominated us as one of her chosen charities of the year.

Whilst the last twelve months seem to have flown by in a whirl of good outcomes, I also feel a sense of outrage. Britain continues to have a horrific homelessness crisis, which is unacceptable.

Homelessness is simply not going away despite the combined efforts of organisations such as ours. On a daily basis we see people in desperate and harrowing need, forced to sleep outside in the freezing cold.

The shocking surge in homelessness is the reason why we are a lifeline to people experiencing homelessness, particularly around Christmas. It’s why we continue to provide nutritious meals along with the support for those struggling to overcome addictions. It’s why we offer a range of well-being classes and also training and employment opportunities for people living on the streets.

We are able to offer these services all year round thanks to the enduring commitment of our supporters. We couldn't carry out the work that we do without all the people who selflessly donate their time, energy, money and talents throughout the year.

As we move towards the end of 2019, I would like to thank our supporters for their compassion and kindness.

I am inspired by the enthusiasm and continued interest of those supporting our work.
Our supporters’ dedication to Providence Row both in their donations and time has helped many people to transform their lives.

This Christmas, please continue to support our critical work. Donating even just a small amount of money could help men and women experiencing homelessness in our community to face the future and rebuild their lives.

Wishing you a peaceful Christmas, happy holidays and a prosperous New Year.
