East End homelessness charity Providence Row and company partner Berkeley Homes (North East London) Ltd were celebrating last week after receiving a Corporate Engagement Award for Best charity, NGO or NFP programme.
The three-year partnership focussed on improving the lives of people affected by homelessness in East London through fundraising, volunteering and pro bono support. The programme has been incredibly successful with Berkeley Homes raising over £150,000 so far through fundraising and events, 30% of their employees have volunteered their time to help people affected by homelessness learn English build their CVs, apply for jobs and use a computer. They have also helped redecorated parts of the centre, sold our social enterprise Rise Bakery’s brownies at events and built concrete planters for an urban regeneration programme.

Providence Row tackles the root causes of homelessness in London’s East End, helping people get off, and stay off, the streets. They’re a one-stop shop of advisory, recovery and training opportunities for those who need it most. The team supports people with housing, money, health and substance misuse issues. Meanwhile their learning and wellbeing activities help people renew skills, confidence and healthier relationships with the people in their lives. Finally the catering, gardening and baking training schemes are a fun, structured and supportive way of getting a qualification, building their CV and getting back into work.
