The Board of Trustees is pleased to announce that Nigel Williams has been confirmed in post as the Chief Executive Officer of Providence Row, formally taking up the post on 1 July 2026. Nigel joined Providence Row in October 2025 as Interim CEO and has spent the past eight months making progress on how the charity impacts on clients in need, collects data and measures impact, raises the profile of the support it provides, and builds new relationships with supporters.
Looking ahead, Nigel will lead the charity through an exciting new chapter, which will include a major refurbishment of The Dellow Centre, our main hub in East London, in 2027.
Nigel would like to share a few words:
"When I stand up and talk about the work that Providence Row delivers and the impact it makes today, I am conscious that this is only a small part of its 165-year history. I can see the difference that our donors, funders, supporters, staff team, volunteers, the trustee board, and our long-standing patron, the Duke of Norfolk, all make together.
The need has never been greater. In England, 81% of accommodation providers have turned someone away because their support needs were too high to manage safely. Over the last five years, complex and multiple mental and physical health needs amongst people sleeping rough have risen by 185.5% and traditional services are often unable to provide the specialist support required.
From casual conversations to delivering IT classes, Providence Row is part of the journey for over 1,250 individuals with complex and challenging support needs every year supporting their step-by-step progress back into a functioning society where they belong. I am proud to help bring about the change that is needed, and deeply grateful to everyone who is involved in our cause."
