Every little helps | Providence Row

We recently hosted our very first official Volunteers’ Week party at our day centre in Aldgate East.

We had a fantastic evening celebrating our volunteers’ outstanding achievements whilst thanking them for their wonderful contributions.

We were delighted to see so many of our supporters from the corporate world and our local community attend.

This year’s theme was a ‘Time to celebrate’. So we felt it was only fitting to celebrate in style with live music - courtesy of our weekly music group - and a scrumptious buffet served with fresh produce from our own roof garden. We also served some yummy brownies from our social enterprise Rise bakery.

Our volunteers are not just at the heart of our mission, we simply could not exist without them.

Every day we are deeply grateful to the massive support that so many people show to our mission of tackling the root causes of homelessness in East London.

We asked the volunteers attending our party to write an affirmation as to why they volunteer at Providence Row.

We had so many touching thoughts and comments in response. We thought we would share our three favourite quotes:

“I volunteer at Providence Row to help change others’ lives for the better.” - A corporate volunteer

“I am also helping myself by helping the vulnerable.” - A community volunteer

“I volunteer at Providence Row because it is important to give back to people that need help. A little help from me can go a long way in helping someone else out.” - One of our summer interns
