Winter Provision Worker

Salary: £21,500
Hours: 35 hrs per week
Contract: Fixed Term Contract - 6 months
Location: Wentworth Street, E1 7SA (closest station is Aldgate East)

Tackling the root cause of homelessness in East London
Providence Row works with more than 1,800 homeless and vulnerably housed people a year in east London, offering an integrated service of crisis support, advice, recovery and learning and training programmes. Our aim is to ensure that people who are so often excluded from mainstream services and gain the opportunities they need to create a safe, healthy and sustainable life away from the streets.

The Reception Team

Our Reception Team is the first point of contact for all our visitors.  As such it plays a key role in ensuring that everyone we work with is treated with dignity and respect, and has a positive experience of our organisation. 
 
The post holder will co-ordinate a range of reception activities. Key objectives for the role are:

Key objectives & Responsibilities

In order to support the achievement of these aims, the Winter Provision Worker will be responsible for:
·  Assist the Advice & Support Team with necessary paperwork, provision and gathering of documentation needed for accessing support in Tower Hamlets or reconnection.
·  Assist clients to access appropriate services including shower, food and Reset Drug and Alcohol Outreach Support, Employability support etc.
·  Assist clients with following our Covid risk assessment.
·  Assist clients with access to Providence Row health hub and get support with physical, mental and sexual health needs including, for example, dental care, needle exchange, vaccination programme.
 

Person Specification

Essential

Experience of providing excellent reception and/or customer care in a busy environment.

The ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with team members and other professionals, in order to deliver the best possible service.

Strong organisational skills and the ability to work autonomously with some guidance from relevant managers.

Excellent IT skills.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

 
Desirable

Experience of managing challenging behaviour in an assertive, positive and supportive way

Experience in managing health & safety and facilities in a similar environment

Understanding and experience of working within professional boundaries

Hold a current first aid certificate or be willing to undergo first aid training and other necessary training as appropriate to the role.

Knowledge of the issues facing those who experience homelessness and the legislation to support this.

Ability to work outside of normal office hours on occasion.
